To Those Who Wait takes place in the 1970s, but it's a timeless love story that could happen in any decade...or century. Scott Parker and Leah Carson have no right to fall in love and carry on an illicit love affair, but the reader will feel and understand their deep love for each other.
Scott is in a loveless, tension-filled marriage and is the father of a teenage daughter, Ginny. Leah is in an impossible marriage, one that consists of a forever-absent husband. She has a teenage son, and both live temporarily with Leah's parents. Leah executes her position as counselor at Central High with professionalism and preciseness, while Scott works hard being the best principal he can be.
Throughout the year, one disturbing family event after the other pushes Scott and Leah closer and closer, while school politics play against them, threatening their very livelihood and peace of mind. Worst of all, tragedy strikes, leaving Scott and Leah devastated and uncertain about their future.
To Those Who Wait is a gripping, emotional story about everyday people who only want peace and love in their lives--and the best for their children. Certainly, this novel will leave a mark on the reader's heart. Without a doubt, as a reader and reviewer this novel holds a sacred place at the top of my list of "must reads." I purchased this a while ago and I'm just reading this book so disappointed in myself I didn't find the time to do so then, nevertheless it's a really great ready really impressed.
